For a Better Start
Just getting started? Large club training sessions with lots of athletes at varying skill levels can be intimidating and counter-productive for new vaulters, especially for younger athletes.
SkyVault is a great option for athletes who are just getting started and unsure of where their pole vault ambitions could lead them. SkyVault training is by appointment only, which keeps sessions small and ensures plenty of time for individualized teaching, repetitions, analysis, and feedback.
This approach helps new pole vaulters master the basics quickly and gain confidence as they transition to their school team or a full-time training club.

For Another Perspective
Pole vault coaches all want great outcomes for their athletes. Unfortunately, techniques and drills don’t always deliver the same results for every athlete. In those cases, maybe another perspective can help.
Different perspectives of the same issue can lead to alternative corrective approaches that may work better for an athlete.
This is a major premise behind SkyVault: another perspective and an open policy of collaboration with fellow school and club coaches, while respecting the primary coach-athlete relationship.

For Proven Coaching
SkyVault's Coach Dave Balch is the pole vault coach at Century High School. His teams are among the largest in the state, with seasoned varsity athletes competing with, and helping mentor new vaulters.
Coach Dave has a proven record of success, having developed first-time vaulters into County, Regional and State champions, while qualifying many more for State and National high school competitions. Many of his student athletes have continued on to compete at the collegiate level.
Along with his many pole vault certifications, Coach Dave is also background-checked, SafeSchools, and SafeSport certified as mandated by Carroll County Public Schools and USATF.

Training Sessions
To work with Coach Dave at SkyVault, athletes must have a current USATF individual membership and be an accepted member of SkyVault, USATF club 10-8269 of the Potomac Valley Association.
Training sessions are held by appointment only during USATF-sanctioned practice times. SkyVault currently operates at Century High School in Eldersburg, Maryland. There are no fees for SkyVault sessions.
